If you've been summoned for a federal grand jury and can't make it, there's a process for rescheduling.

  • Await confirmation from the court. You'll usually get this in writing, either by mail or email.
  • Once the date is rescheduled, make sure to mark it on your calendar and prepare accordingly.

Failure to reschedule properly or attend the rescheduled date could result in legal penalties.

Jurors: Most contact between a federal court and a prospective juror will be through the U.S. mail, and/or any phone contact by local agencies such as the assigned court districts Civil Services Division. These calls are conducted via civil service court officials with a lieutenant ranking or higher.
